Image size and resolution recommendations

Updated over a week ago

When placing images on the products page, we suggest using large, crisp, beautiful images of either the bottle shot or label. A good size is approximately 400x400 pixels max, with a 72dpi resolution. It is highly recommended that all images have the same ratio (portrait vs square vs landscape) so your pages will have visual consistency. Images should be in the same place and with minimal margins all around. Tip: Save your work and check the front end to see how things look. Make any needed adjustments and check again.

Realistically, an image can be set to a file size as small as (or smaller) than 50 KB, depending on the type and size of the image, and still look great on the Web. On the upper end, ensure your images never exceed 500 KB in file size.

Fortunately, there are numerous, simple ways to resize your images conveniently. Here are a few options mentioned, and you can research more depending on whether you have a Mac or Windows computer.

Examples:
Please take a look below for an example of various images.  You can see how these different image sizes/formats may affect the product page by unintentionally pushing down the page content.

  • Only wine with no margins

  • Wine with wide margins from left and right

  • Wine that has a wide margin from the top
