There are different options available for disabling/enabling shipping. This can be done for an entire product class (e.g., wines, spirits, merchandise, etc.) or for a specific product (e.g., 2019 Sauvignon Blanc Reserve, wine glass set, organic coffee, etc.). Depending on the options selected and your other configured settings, disabling shipping may leave other fulfillment options available, such as pickup and/or local delivery.
Disable Shipping for a Product Category
To disable or enable shipping at the product type level, go to Dashboard > Settings and then select the product category (e.g., Wines). Scroll down the page and look for the 'Disable Shipping' option. Toggle to your preference.
Disable Shipping for an Item
To disable or enable shipping at the individual product level, go to Products then click on your products and select your individual product to edit (e.g., 2019 Sauvignon Blanc Reserve, Etched Wine Glass Set). Scroll down the page and look for 'Override default shipping weights', and check 'Yes', if you want to disable shipping. Options will then unfurl, including 'Disable Shipping'.
If an order has an item that can ship and one that can not ship
If an item that is set to 'Disable shipping' has been added to the cart, it will indicate "This item is not eligible for shipping" and there will be no Shipping fields on the checkout form. If there is also an item in the cart that is eligible for shipping, the shipping field will still not be displayed. If the item(s) that cannot ship are removed from the checkout, the shipping field will appear again.
