How to create and reset a password, and log in without a password

Updated over a year ago

This article provides an overview of setting initial passwords, procedures for your staff or customers to follow when needing to reset their password, and logging in without a password.

Login Page

The login page is accessible through the main login link or by clicking 'Login' in the footer of your VinesOS site. On the login page, the option, 'Forgot Your Password' is available when you need to reset your password. Alternatively, you can choose to 'Login without password'.

Login without password: Enter your email address and a login link will be emailed to you. Open the email then click the 'Login' link, and you will immediately be logged into your VinesOS account.

Forgot Your Password (for password reset): Enter your email address, and a new temporary password will be emailed to you. Then, in the next step, update the password.

Remember Me
If the 'Remember me' checkbox is checked, you will remain logged in even if you close your Internet browser. If you don't check the box, when you close the browser, your previous login will not be kept saved, and the next time you access the login page, you will need to login again. Please note that this is of course contingent on your own settings in your Internet browser for saving and caching.

In VinesOS Console

STAFF: Staff admins can change their password from within VinesOS by going to the Profile link under the Profile (head icon) located in the top right of the VinesOS console.

INSTRUCTING YOUR STAFF:
Please instruct your staff to not use the same password as they do for other logins. Do not share logins or passwords. This is not PCI compliant and against our terms of use.
Use a password that has 8 characters minimum, use at least one number, one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and one special symbol.

INSTRUCTING MEMBERS WHEN INTRODUCING YOUR NEW CLUB SOFTWARE:

On initial notification about your new club software to members, ask them to create their password. To do this, they will go to the Password Reset page, which is your VinesOS domain with the following at the end of the URL:
/user/password/
so for example it will be like:
https://YOURDOMAIN.vinesos.com/user/password/
and it should look similar to this:
https://go.vinesos.com/user/password/

  1. They will just enter the email that you have on file for them. They will then receive an email with a temporary password. They will click the link in the email, which will take them to the Change Password page like this:

2. They will then enter the temporary password from the email in the Original Password field, and enter a NEW secure password which includes: 8 characters minimum, with at least one number, one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and one special symbol. Confirm password. This will become your new password.

Here is a Video (Internal for you, not to be shared with members) on how your members will reset their password:

INSTRUCTING MEMBERS TO RESET PASSWORD IF THEY CANNOT LOGIN

On the member login page, they should click the 'Forgot Your Password?' link. Then, they will enter their account email address and click 'Send', and a new temporary password will be emailed to them.

Enter the temporary password in the Original Password field, and enter twice a NEW secure password which includes: 8 characters minimum, with at least one number, one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and one special symbol.  This will become your new password.

NOTE: In the event an admin or member has hit Password Reset/Forgot Password multiple times, the emails received may appear as one email or stacked emails. In this scenario, the member must use the most recent email & password. Once the new temporary password has been set, is the one that must be used, not the previous one.
