Best practice for Vines OS mapping if you are building product menu on Revel

Updated over a year ago

VinesOS can import products from Revel based on either or both:

  1. Product Category (e.g., top-level category "Red Wine" or "Beer").

  2. Product SubCategory (e.g., Red Wine > Cabernet Sauvignon)

  3. Product Group (e.g., create a Product group "VinesOS" and cherry-pick what wines you want to import into VinesOS. Note: you must remember every time when adding a product to include the product group tag, or else it will not important. Options 1 & 2 above are recommended because they will automatically synchronize without the manual addition of the tag and it is less prone to user error.

In this option, the wine online shop can automatically include the filters showing the wine category (Red Wine, or California, or any breakdown of category as top level) and varietal (Cabernet).

  1. Create top-level categories on Revel, such as region of wine or whatever category (but not varietal) - for example, "California" or "RED WINE"

  2. Use the Subcategory as Varietal "Cabernet Sauvignon"

Option 2: Winery Category and Varietal

  1. Create top-level categories on Revel as "Wine" or "Spirits".

  2. Use the Subcategory as California, or anything you want to categorize it as on Vines OS and have available in the filters.

  3. Use the vintage as the first part of the name, "2015 Summit Cabernet Reserve" unless you want to add it to the wine on VinesOS.

VinesOS Setup

Before syncing from Revel: Add a Category in Vines OS for each Revel top-level Category. This will show in your shop filters as "Category", such as a Country or Style, depending on how you have it set up in Revel.

  1. Go to Products > Categories and add a Category for each one from Revel.

Once the Category is added, click on the Category name to go the settings. Choose the category on Revel to map it to, as on icon 2 below.

2. Import Varietals:
If using OPTION 1, to import varietals go in Vines OS to Revel > Settings scroll down to Wine, toggle on "Import Revel subcategories as Wine varietal"

** On Revel, create a category "VinesOS," so if you do add wine on VinesOS, it has somewhere to sync to on Revel.

When you have completed this setup, schedule a Revel Sync meeting, and we will complete the sync with you and make sure it's all set up properly.
