Manage shipping during heat

Updated over 3 years ago

There are two configurable options available to offer cold service and/or ice pack services for shipping. Note: You can configure and offer BOTH of these options to your customers, if that is your preference.

Option #1 - General Pricing

The first option enables the customer to select a cold service and/or ice pack service at checkout. These optional services are presented as vacant check boxes until selected by the customer. Pricing for these services are based on the quantity of product added to the cart. To configure this option, go to Dashboard > Settings > Wine (or product type), then scroll down to the Shipping section.

Enter the amount to charge on orders to include Ice packs and or Cold service, based on number of items in cart.

You can include a custom message on the checkout form advising where this is required to be added. Add a snippet called "__cold_service" (copy that exactly, without the quotes) and enter the text you want to appear on checkout.

Option #2 - State-Specific Pricing

The second option is also found at Dashboard > Settings > Wine, but under a tab called Cold Service. The Cold Service page allows you to specify which states require cold service and/or ice pack service for shipping. You can set a unique cold service/ice pack fee per state, again based on quantity added to cart, as a required service.

Note: Based on the customer's ship to state, if you have this option configured for that state, the service checkbox at the check out page will be automatically checked (since this is a requirement), and that box cannot be unchecked by the customer.

On POS orders, when adding a member or customer to the order and selecting Ship, if the state requires Cold Service or Ice Packs, it will be automatically added to the order.

Test and make sure the cold service or ice packs are being charged properly.
