The UPS access point option lets your customers choose an alternative pickup location instead of having their order shipped to their residence. The UPS access point may be a UPS Store location or another UPS pickup location such as Michael's, Office Depot, CVS, etc., based on the closest points available to the customer's residential address. Here's how it works.
For Ecommerce Orders
When checking out, the customer will enter their shipping address as usual. Below that section will be a 'Pick up Locally' section with an option to 'Pick up nearby at access point.' When the customer checks that box, the system will look up their entered shipping address and offer a list of nearby UPS access point locations in a dropdown. The customer can select their preferred pickup location, and future orders will be shipped by default to that location.
At Club Signup
The process is the same as for an e-commerce order above. When the member selects an access point location for pickup, it will become their default location for future shipped club orders. This option can, of course, be deselected at any point in the future in the member's profile.
On the POS
Similarly, when admin is either creating a new customer account on the POS or editing an existing customer's record, they can select an access point location for orders to be shipped to by default for customer pickup.
And on POS checkout, if you mark the order to Ship, there will also be an option to pick the order up at an access point.
On the Dashboard
If you are looking at an order on the Dashboard, you can click the 'Customize' option in the order and change the fulfillment option to pick up at an access point.
Shipping Label
Once the access point has been set, the UPS shipping label will reflect the access point name. The shipping address location for the access point will be included on the shipping label, along with the required adult signature section and the name of the person the package is being held for.
